How to Add Custom Branding to Your Shared Documents

3 min read

To add custom branding, open Settings -> Branding in Docutracker, upload your logo, set primary and secondary colors, and (if available) configure your subdomain. The result is a branded viewing experience that improves trust and makes your document links look like your company, not a generic tool.

Step 1: Prepare your brand assets

  1. Export your logo as PNG (transparent background recommended).
  2. Collect your primary and secondary brand hex colors.
  3. Decide whether you want a branded subdomain like yourcompany.docutracker.io.

Expected result: You have ready-to-upload assets that will render cleanly in the viewer.

Why this matters: Good assets prevent blurry logos and inconsistent colors across shared links.

Step 2: Apply logo and colors in branding settings

  1. Go to Settings -> Branding.
  2. Upload your logo.
  3. Set your primary and secondary colors.
  4. Use preview mode to verify readability for buttons, text, and progress elements.
  5. Save changes.

Expected result: New links immediately use your updated visual identity.

Why this matters: Consistent branding reduces confusion and increases recipient confidence.

Step 3: Configure branded domain or subdomain

  1. Open Settings -> Custom Domain (or subdomain settings).
  2. Enter your preferred domain/subdomain.
  3. Add required DNS records at your registrar.
  4. Verify the domain in Docutracker.

Expected result: New share URLs use your branded address structure.

Why this matters: Branded URLs tend to improve click trust compared with generic links.

Step 4: Test the full viewer experience

  1. Create a test share link for an internal file.
  2. Open it in desktop and mobile.
  3. Check logo size, color contrast, and URL appearance.
  4. Validate password and email-verification screens if enabled.

Expected result: The entire viewer flow matches your brand standards.

Why this matters: Small visual inconsistencies can hurt credibility in high-value deals.

Step 5: Roll out team-wide brand rules

  1. Document approved logo versions and color values.
  2. Standardize link naming conventions by team.
  3. Review branding settings quarterly or after rebrand updates.

Expected result: Every shared document from your team looks consistent.

Why this matters: Consistency across sales, onboarding, and legal touchpoints strengthens brand recall.

Troubleshooting

If logo looks blurry

  • Upload a higher-resolution source file.
  • Prefer PNG with transparent background.
  • Avoid screenshots of logos.

If colors reduce readability

  • Use higher-contrast pairings for text and buttons.
  • Re-test on mobile and low-brightness displays.

If custom domain does not verify

  • Recheck DNS records exactly as provided.
  • Wait for DNS propagation, then retry verification.
  • Confirm there are no conflicting old CNAME records.

Quick branding checklist

  • Logo is high-resolution and transparent.
  • Primary/secondary colors pass basic contrast checks.
  • Subdomain/domain is verified.
  • Test link works on desktop and mobile.
  • Team uses one shared branding standard.
