Docutracker is a document analytics platform that lets you share PDFs, pitch decks, and sales proposals via trackable links — and then see exactly how recipients engage with them. It's built for sales teams, founders raising capital, and anyone who sends documents and needs to know what happened after the send.
Create an account at docutracker.io — no credit card is required for the Free plan. Once in your dashboard, upload a PDF or PowerPoint file, click "Create Share Link," and send the generated URL to your recipient. You'll receive real-time notifications and see viewer analytics the moment they open it.
Yes. The Free plan is permanently free for 1 user and includes up to 5 document uploads per month, unlimited tracking on those documents, real-time viewer notifications, and automatic viewer email capture. No credit card is needed to create an account.
Yes. The homepage lets you upload a PDF or PowerPoint and instantly get a trackable share link plus a live real-time view of how recipients engage — no account required. Trial uploads are valid for 7 days and capped at 50 MB per file. It's a great way to see buyer engagement tracking in action before committing to a plan.
You can upload PDFs (up to 50 MB), PowerPoint files (.ppt / .pptx, up to 50 MB), images (up to 10 MB), and videos (up to 100 MB). The no-account trial supports PDFs and PowerPoint files only. PowerPoint presentations are automatically converted and displayed as a PDF so viewers don't need any software installed.
For PDFs, tracking starts the moment you create a share link — typically under 15 seconds from upload. For PowerPoint files, an automatic conversion runs first (usually 30–90 seconds depending on file size), after which tracking goes live. You can monitor the conversion progress directly from your dashboard.
For every viewer session, Docutracker captures: total time spent, pages viewed, time spent per page, scroll depth per page, whether the document was completed, download events, in-document search queries, and links clicked within the document. All data is tracked in real time and broken down per viewer so you always know who engaged and how deeply.
The moment a recipient opens your document, Docutracker sends you an email alert. You get separate notifications for the first view, any download, and when a viewer reaches the end of the document. Each notification fires only once per event so you stay informed without being overwhelmed.
Enable "Require Email" on any share link and viewers must enter a valid email address before they can open the document. Docutracker automatically screens out disposable and undeliverable addresses to keep your contact list clean. Every verified email is tied to that viewer's full analytics session so you know exactly who read what.
Yes. Set a password when creating a share link and viewers must enter it before they can access the document. The password is stored securely and is never visible in the share URL or anywhere in your analytics. Password-protected links are available on the Business plan.
Yes. You can set an expiration date and time when creating a share link. Once the deadline passes the link becomes inactive and visitors see a clear "link expired" message. All analytics collected up to that point are preserved in your dashboard. Auto-expiring links are a Business-plan feature.
Docutracker includes a full-featured rich text editor for creating trackable documents without uploading a file. Start from a blank page or use the Investor Pitch Deck for B2B SaaS template as your starting point. Creating a new document uses one monthly credit; editing an existing one does not.
Docutracker currently includes one built-in template: Investor Pitch Deck for B2B SaaS. It is designed for SaaS founders who need a fundraising deck with a clear investor narrative and can be customized in the editor before sharing.
Docutracker share pages work in any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — on desktop, tablet, and mobile. Recipients don't need to install anything. Documents render directly in the browser, so there's no friction between your recipient and the content.
Yes. Paid plan users can set a custom subdomain (e.g., acme.docutracker.io) so every share link carries your company name. The subdomain is configured once in your organisation settings. Custom root domains are not currently supported.
Yes. Docutracker supports sign-in with Google, LinkedIn, and standard email/password. All three options give you identical access to every feature — there's no difference in what you can do based on how you signed up.
Native CRM integrations are not available yet. You can view all viewer data — email, time spent, pages read — directly in your Docutracker dashboard and manually reference or export it into your CRM workflow. If CRM connectivity is important to your team, reach out and let us know so we can prioritise it.
Docutracker offers three plans. Free: $0/month, 1 user, 5 documents/month. Pro: $10/month (or $7/month billed annually at $84/year), 1 user, 50 documents/month, plus company branding. Business: $49/month (500 docs/month) or $39/month billed annually ($468/year, 1,000 docs/month), with seat-based team access, priority support, and extended analytics history.
Click "Start 30 Day Free Trial" on the Business plan and you'll be taken through a quick checkout — no charge until the trial ends. Your trial begins immediately and gives you full access to every Business feature. You cannot switch to a different plan mid-trial; if you want to change plans, cancel the trial first.
Each plan includes a monthly allowance of document uploads. Every new document you upload or create counts as one. The allowance resets on your billing renewal date each month. Editing a document you've already created does not use up an additional credit. Once you reach your limit, new uploads are paused until the next cycle.
Yes. Business uses seat-based pricing, so you can add as many seats as you need at checkout or from your billing portal. Per-seat pricing for add-ons is shown before you pay and depends on whether you bill monthly or annually.
Yes. You can switch billing frequency or upgrade your plan directly from the pricing page while logged in. The change is applied to your account right away — no need to cancel and re-subscribe. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
PowerPoint files are converted to PDF automatically in the background so viewers don't need PowerPoint installed. If conversion appears stuck, open the file in your dashboard and use the "Retry Conversion" button. If the problem persists, check that your file is under 50 MB and is a valid .ppt or .pptx file, then try again or contact support.
Docutracker automatically verifies email addresses to protect the quality of your contact data. Addresses that belong to disposable email services or that are identified as undeliverable are rejected. If a legitimate address is being blocked, ask the viewer to use their primary work or personal email. Temporary or alias addresses are the most common cause.
First, confirm that email notifications are turned on in your account settings. Notifications send once per event per viewer — if you have already received an alert for a particular viewer opening the document, you won't get a second one for the same event. Also check your spam folder. If alerts are still missing, contact support@docutracker.io.
When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. After that, paid features are removed but your account and all historical analytics data remain accessible. You won't lose your document history or viewer records.
Docutracker uses a combination of browser signals and a secure session token to recognise when the same person reopens a document. This means returning visitors are counted accurately in your analytics without requiring them to create an account or log in every time.
All uploaded files — PDFs, converted presentations, editor documents, and images — are stored in encrypted cloud storage. Files are never stored on a local server and are only accessible via secure, authenticated URLs. Your documents are not used for any purpose other than delivering them to your intended recipients.
Your viewer analytics — emails, time spent, pages read — are visible only to you and are never sold or shared with advertisers. Docutracker uses industry-standard analytics and error monitoring services to keep the platform reliable, but none of your document content or viewer contact data is passed to those services.
Passwords on share links are encrypted before being saved. The original password is never stored in readable form anywhere in the system. Viewers enter their password through a secure form and it is verified without the plain text ever being exposed — not in the URL, not in logs, and not in your analytics.
A public API is not available yet. All analytics are currently accessible through the Docutracker dashboard. If programmatic access or data export is something your team needs, contact us — it helps us understand demand and prioritise the roadmap.
Yes, on paid plans. Go to your Organisation settings and set your preferred subdomain. Once configured, every share link you create will be served at your-name.docutracker.io/share/… giving your recipients a fully branded experience. Note that the subdomain can only be set once, so choose carefully.
Yes. Docutracker starts completely free — no credit card required — and paid plans begin at $10/month, significantly less than DocSend. You get real-time open alerts, page-by-page time tracking, email-gated access, and password-protected links — all core features that DocSend charges a premium for. Many teams switching from DocSend find Docutracker covers everything they need at a fraction of the cost.
Not with an attachment — to get tracking data, share your document through a Docutracker link instead of attaching the file. Upload your PDF or presentation to Docutracker, create a share link, and paste that link into your email. Every time a recipient opens it, you see who viewed it, how long they spent, and which pages they read. Generating a trackable link takes about 15 seconds.
If your link requires an email address, every person who opens it must verify their own email first — so each viewer appears as a separate, identified session in your analytics. You'll see that multiple people opened the link and exactly how each of them engaged. If no email gate is set, multiple viewers still show up as distinct sessions, so you can tell the link was accessed more than once.
Docutracker gives you the signals that matter: total time spent, which slides they lingered on, whether they re-read specific pages, and whether they opened the deck more than once. An investor who spends several minutes on your financials and revisits your team slide is a much warmer lead than one who bounced after page two. Use this data to time your follow-up and focus your conversation on the pages they actually cared about.
